As part of our commitment to being a restorative school, we have established a group of children to work as ‘RP Buddies’ around school. These children undertook extensive training, with one of our HCAT Restorative Practice Leaders. They complete their duties during play and lunchtimes, these duties include:
- Ensure all children have someone to play with.
- Promote and model restorative behaviours.
- Solve disagreements between children.
These children also act as role models for the school at all times and have a specific role in identifying and training the RP leaders of the future.
We have recently split the role of a buddy further so that more children are able to grow and develop as leaders during less structured times of the day.
Year 6 are currently being trained as Level 1 Sports Leaders, with a focus on broadening their understanding of leading activities for younger age groups in their school and and creating inclusive games for other children to play.
