RE – curriculum information

At Pearson Primary School, the teaching of Religious Education (RE) is based upon the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) scheme of work. There are termly units for each year group, which are progressive and each have an overarching key question to investigate, encouraging the children to ask questions, draw conclusions, evaluate and reflect while respecting the religions of others.

During Key Stage 1 the children are given the opportunity to study Christianity and Islam.  Whilst in Key stage 2 the children continue to study Christianity and Islam in further detail and at least 2 other Religions.

The school has links to the Methodist community through Deacon Sue Langdale and to the local Muslim community through Pearson Park Mosque. RE lessons are further enhanced through visits to places of worship, visitors and resources to develop their knowledge of ‘cultural diversity’.

The ERYC scheme can be viewed in detail via this link http://www.eriding.net/all-ages/religious-education/

Pearson is a really friendly school and is a supportive place to work.
