At Pearson Primary School we value the uniqueness and individuality of each child’s handwriting and aim to develop a high standard of penmanship for every child.

We prioritise a firm foundation in letter formation using the RWI letter formation phrases before we begin to teach letter joins. Daily practise is key to every child’s success and this starts immediately as the children join the school.

Daily practise is an essential ingredient for handwriting success. If your child is in EYFS, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 and attends a phonics group, you will receive a daily link to the sound that your child is learning that day. This is the best handwriting practice for your child, so that they are learning the sounds that the letters make alongside forming the grapheme.
