Geography
Curriculum Information
Our lead teacher for geography is Mrs Pullen.
At Pearson Primary, we are committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging geography curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of the world. Beginning in Key Stage 1, our pupils are introduced to fundamental geographical concepts, including the identification of the world’s continents, oceans, and the countries within the United Kingdom. Through engaging lessons and activities, students develop early skills in map reading, fieldwork, and geographical vocabulary, enhancing their knowledge of both human and physical features such as cities, rivers, and mountains.
As our students progress to Key Stage 2, their geographical knowledge is expanded to cover regions in Europe, North, and South America. They gain an understanding of key physical and human processes, including: climate zones, biomes, and settlement patterns. Pupils are taught to use maps, compasses, and digital tools, enabling them to investigate and analyse geographical features.
Our curriculum emphasises fieldwork, providing students with opportunities to explore their local environment and apply their skills in real-world contexts. Geography at our school equips students with essential skills in observation, analysis, and critical thinking.
By the end of their studies, pupils will have a thorough understanding of both local and global geography, preparing them to engage thoughtfully with the world around them. Our aim is to support a generation of pupils who are not only knowledgeable but also curious about the diverse landscapes and cultures that shape our planet.
